Soft's review

Over the weekend we witnessed lots of excitement and demolitions from the UCL and it's aftermath.

Friday saw the exit of two league champions from the competition; Real Madrid and Juventus. With Los blancos gifting City two goals off rare errors from Raphael Varane to seal City's well deserved qualification.

Ramos like Ronaldo in faraway Turin was unable to inspire his team to success.

Juventus on the other hand won the 2nd leg game vs Lyon with Ronaldo scoring both goals for Juve but Depay's penalty goal was enough to make sure Juve drew the game on aggregate and ultimately crash out on away goal.

While Sarri and Ronaldo were quick to leave the pitch after the game, Zidane stayed put, having a chitchat with rival club legend, Pep Guardiola. A wonderful sight for neutrals and lovers of the game alike.

Reports were everywhere prior to Lyon arriving Turin that Juve's qualification was to decide whether Sarri would stay or not but Agnelli, Juventus chairman was quick to say after the game that time will be needed, a few days, to reassess things before making any decision (few days which became few hours).

Sarri also had a handful to say after the game with majority not going down well with Juventini and fans generally.

It was no surprise when on Saturday afternoon, the news of Sarri's sack broke, what was surprising was the choice to replace him.

UCL action continued last night as Bayern continued their demolition of London based clubs, scoring 4 against Chelsea with Lewandowski very much involved in all 4 goals. Thus he was involved in all 7 goals scored against Chelsea over two legs, unreal.

PS; he's 4 goals shy of Ronaldo's record of the most goals scored in a single UCL campaign (Lewandowski).

Elsewhere in the Nou camp, Napoli were being put to the sword by Barca as they lost 3-1.

As usual Messi was on the score sheet as he once again pulled the Greyhound out of the hat with a superb finish.

Next stop; Lisbon...

  1. How do I explain to someone who doesn't watch football that Juventus won, drew and lost a single game at full time in a night?πŸ˜‚πŸ’”

As for Chelsea against in-form Bayern nothing short of a loss was expected. Pulling a Liverpool this season was twin to impossible owing to her inconsistent form after PL restart, Bayern gave them the scoreline they (Chelsea) needed to qualify.πŸ˜‚
