Beneath the bridge; raise alarm or stay calm.

Prior to the start of the season, the aura of excitement around Chelsea faithfuls were sky high. They had every reason to, seeing that the transfer window saw them pick players in cuppy fashion from top leagues across Europe.

The likes of Werner, Ziyech and Havertz to mention a few. It was indeed difficult to find someone who didn't think the team would compete on every front.

The season began with a win against Brighton in the League, Not a convincing one but with a comfortable scoreline. They faced champions Liverpool next, there they recorded their first loss of the season.

The carabao cup came along with an emphatic win over Barnsley, a game which saw generational talent, Havertz open his goalscoring account with a hattrick.

It did look like Chelsea were on course to record back to back wins as they were to face Westbrom in the league but all those thoughts fizzled away not more than 40 minutes into the game.

Chelsea were down by 3 goals and it wasn't halftime yet. Lampard worked his Mount magic during the halftime break and Chelsea were able to draw the game, 3-3.

Just 2 days back, The blues fell once again, this time by penalty shootouts in the knockout stages of the carabao cup (round 4/round of 16).

This means that lampard is left with only two domestic trophies to fight for. The league and the Fa cup.

Although many will agree with me that lampard needs time to get his team together and that the target should be him getting Chelsea FC to compete in all competitions, I feel he's just lost out on actually competing.

With the amount of money spent on the squad, I doubt the man signing the cheques will be pleased with the way they exited the competition. It's still very early so no one really expects any reaction.

For fans who are seeking answers as regards why the transfer business hasn't really glittered on the pitch, I think I have some propositions:

- Injury concerns; the likes of Ziyech and Pulisic who look like Chelsea's best options on the flanks are still yet to be fully recovered to play. With time and with them back, Chelsea can get their attacking threat on the upside again.

Minor injuries and fitness issues to the likes of Chilwell and Thiago have also played a part.

- Experiments; Truth is right now Lampard is still in the foundation phase. From the defense to midfield even the attack.

There wasn't much time to carry out many of his ideas during the very short or rather absent preseason and with a crop of new players joining in he's had to use early fixtures as testing grounds.

- Gelling factor; this involves understanding amongst players. Sometimes it quickly develops, other times it might take a bit.

Havertz(amongst others) is yet to settle completely in the team and with the type of talent he possesses, he will be a threat when he finally finds his footing.

And lastly, this is more agenda than facts for now; maybe just maybe Lampard isn't passing the right information to his players but then only time will tell.

It's only early times as I've written before, The season is but young. With time the results we all desire will start to surface but somewhere far far away from London, a wristwatch ticks with a certain Israeli-Russian ever conscious of it.

We hope we get to see a Pep/Zidane like dynasty at Chelsea. The transfer window feels the same way too...

For now, I guess we should stick to remaining calm.

  4. all performances this season has been piss poor, against brighton we were lucky, against liverpool outmatched, against barnsley too many defensive mistakes in their ends , barnsley also managed 9 shots on target, the scoreline alongside havertz's first goals in chelsea colours drowned all this out. chelsea play without intent, too many sideways passes and alot of possession is held in our half. these players are clueless going forward and even with pulisic and ziyech coming in as a major attacking boost, without the support of those behind them going forward it would be a huge task for them. last season pulisic was the only player with the drive to constantly go forward, and that's the same impact bruno fernandes has on man u, constant desire to thread the ball forward. push the opposition back, force mistakes.

  5. The hype around the team made me decide to ff them up this season and frankly I've been flat-faced disappointed. Excuses abound just like for every other failures but looking beyond results and analyzing performances you see vividly why Fans are both crying wolf and mocking. We can't tag them failures yet;still stand with the opinion that they should be judged next season but doesn't mean they should be bang average this season;the team should be top4 team xterized by classic performances. The league is still young;Time will tell if Lampard is the right man or if actually they needed time; but for now let the "god" of banter give of food as much as he can!
